Marlowe W. Kinkade, 90, died December 26, 2023, at Edgewood Vista in Spearfish, SD.
Marlowe was born January 14, 1933, in Watertown, SD, to Goldie L. (Shellum) and Kenneth E. Kinkade.
He graduated from Watertown High School and attended South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, SD, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in Mortuary Science. He lived in Rapid City from 1951 until 1967.
He married Helena L. Chaloupka in Edina, Minnesota on July 30, 1960.
In 1967 they purchased the Anderson Stingley Funeral Home in Sturgis which they owned and operated until their retirement.
Marlowe was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis; Lions Club, Olive Branch #47 AF&AM Masonic Lodge, the former Hills and Plains Sports Club, NRA, and a former Hunt Safe Instructor.
He was a man of good moral character and a strong work ethic.
Survivors include; his wife Helen Kinkade; Daughter Kamala (Randy) Brennick; Grandchildren, Abbey (Kade) Huntington, Logan Brennick, Matthew Brennick; Great Grand Daughter, Skyler Huntington; sisters in law, Margaret Simon, Gerry Chaloupka, Ann Kinkade; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2024 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. The Family will be present. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis. Private Family services will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Meade County 4H Shooting Sports or to a youth organization of the donor’s choice. The family respectfully requests no flowers.
The other day Marlowe told God: “I’m done.” God replied: “Good. Now I can begin.”
