Robert "Bob" E. Welch, age 94, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
Bob was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on March 9, 1929; he was the dear son of the late Lloyd and Fern (Bixler) Welch.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara J. (Schofield) Welch, as well as his sisters Leola, Gladys, and Opal. He is survived by his loving children Pamela Cote and husband Paul of Wilmington, Stephen Welch of Wilmington, and Carol Accettullo and husband Marc of Littleton. He was the loving "Grampa" of Mary Garcia and husband Angel, Thomas Welch and girlfriend Kayla Winchenbach, Katie Welch and boyfriend Ben Lafortune, and Marisa Accettullo and boyfriend Andrew Penizotto. Bob is survived by one great-granddaughter Isabel Garcia, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Tuesday, January 23rd at 9:00 a.m. for a visiting hour followed by a Service to Celebrate Bob's life at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.

Bob was a devoted follower of Christ and served in leadership positions at the churches he attended throughout his life. As a young man, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Upon moving to Massachusetts, he enjoyed a long career at General Electric in Lynn, MA as a Senior Engineer. In retirement, he and his beloved wife Barbara loved to travel across the country in their trailer, even as far as Alaska.
