Henry Hank Kuhnhauser, age 62, went to be with his Lord Nov. 25, 2006 at his home in Rapid City after a long and brave battle with lung cancer.
Hank was born Feb. 23, 1944, in Queens, New York to Henry and Bertha (Hanzel) Kuhnhauser. He lived there with his sister and parents until he was 17 years old when he joined the United States Air Force. He met Audry, whom he affectionately called Audie, while he was stationed here at Ellsworth AFB. They were married Jan. 14, 1965, in El Paso, TX. Together they had two daughters; Kim and Karla. Hanks tour of duties while in the Air Force included Vietnam, England, Lincoln, NE., Phoenix, AZ, Omaha, NE., Bitburg, Germany, and Ellsworth, SD. He retired in 1983. He and Audry began a second career in 1985 when they opened up Audries Bed and Breakfast which Hank looked upon as a ministry to couples who needed a quiet place to come aside to rest.
Hank will best be remembered by those who loved him for his sometimes mischievous sense of humor and his willingness to lend a hand to those in need. He and Audry enjoyed traveling together and exploring every antique shop from coast to coast. He enjoyed listening to music and church fellowship with his many brothers and sisters in Christ. He also loved being outside tending the grounds or feeding his many wild bird friends. His grandchildren made him the happiest of all men. He had the peace that passes understanding in knowing where he was going after his earthly life was over. His greatest desire was to have the joy of knowing that all his family would receive Christs free gift of salvation and walk in the truth of His word. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the many people whose lives he touched over the years.
Hank is survived by Audry, his wife of nearly 42 years, his daughters, Kimber Buszko and her husband John of Rapid City, SD and Karla Fox and Gary Putnam of Edgemont, SD, and his six grandchildren: Calub Fox of Spearfish, SD, Taner and Hana Fox of Edgemont, SD, Nicholas, Naomi, and Niah Buszko of Rapid City, SD, and his sister Emma Kuhnhauser of New York City, NY.
