The Paul Family

Around thirty years ago, we enjoyed the presence of Weston and Jenna... a brother/sister team that you just could not help but like. Lots of smiles... fun to be around... liked the horses alot. But, I always appreciated their parents so much, as well. Their mother had a vibrant way about her and as time went on, my admiration for her increased. You see, Weston and Jenna's, Dad... Mariella's husband had a debilitating disease that wreaked havoc to his body. John Paul went from a picture of health... a cowboy with a huge heart and capability to match to one crippled. I was always amazed that even though his body was failing... his spirit exuded a joy that could only come from his faith in Christ.

***

Today, Mariella and another dear friend came out to the ranch. 13 years ago today, John made his entrance into Glory... no longer entrapped in this earthly body. It was certainly special to have her visit. She left something special to honor the life and memory of her dear husband in hopes that a child will experience a special time at RBR as well. To God be the glory.

Just before Mariella left, she shared how she had heard my mother speak in 1980 at a women's luncheon. She commented on the amazing peace that Mom presented at a time only around a year after the death of her sons, Lyle and Lee. Mariella also noted Lana and Heidi shared that same peace as they sang.

Thank you to the Paul family for the encouragement today... ***

Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

"HOMESTEAD HAPPENINGS... THE RAINBOW REFLECTOR AUTUMN 2022"

I love doing what I do. I like telling the story of how God led me to attend Bible College in Montana after I graduated from high school. In this school there were numerous students that were studying for the ministry or preparing for the mission field. When asked what my plans were, I would simply reply, “I am going back to the ranch”.
***
Surely I heard plenty of sermons on the Great Commission… you know “Go ye into all the world”. I would be questioned on why I was not attending an “Ag School” to prepare me for my future. Again I would reply that God had led me to attend Bible College. I had the privilege of being the Christian Service Director during my final semester in Montana. I enjoyed that very much, especially the chapel services that I would conduct. I was even the emcee for the Christmas Banquet just before I left.
***
These opportunities would be good experience for when I returned to the ranch. Right? I was asked to share my life verse or at least a favorite before I went back to the ranch in western South Dakota. I chose Ephesians 4:1-2. Paul wrote, “I beseech you brethren to walk worthy of the vocation to which you are called…” I figured that would be perfect for all that wondered what my calling would be as I was leaving Bible College and heading back to the ranch.
***
Little did I know how God was planning to use Larry Reinhold on my return to the Lonetree. Within a year, Rainbow Bible Ranch was founded and operational. Amazing! And you know that verse about going into all the world… well… many from all over the world now come to the ranch.

Men's Day at RBR 2022

Choose...

"CHOOSE THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE..."
***
Henry David Thoreau wrote, "...If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer."
***
I have often paraphrased that statement to simply, " Marching to a different drummer".
***
Joshua stated to the Israelites, "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
***
Daily, we would do well to honestly assess whom we take our lead from. What drives our goals and desires. Have our friendships changed? For the better... for the worse. Are we faithfully leading, serving and caring for our family members. What has priority? Have we turned our back on those that were coworkers before. Is that good? Are our efforts to further God's Kingdom or are they self serving.
***
Joshua's challenge and ensuing example cause me to consider my daily walk and the far reaching impact of my decisions. "Discipulus Fidelis" .... Follow Faithul.... Thank you Lord for your guidance

Last Nite of Legacy III

The last night of Legacy III Study Group...

Nearly all of these young people are lined out to be on staff this summer at RBR. Such a privilege to fellowship and work with them. Tonight, we gathered at the Ranch... grilled some Lonetree Ground beef, played a little ball at SunnyView Field and studied from the book of Acts in the New Testament.

What a wonderful blessing...

My Dad and I as we prayed....

I like this photo of my Dad and I as we prayed before an event a number of years ago. This will be RBR's 43rd season of camp and May is a month that stirs up memories and emotions as we gear up for our summer season. As always...Communication with the Almighty is vital...

***

Please pray with us that as we enjoy life with nearly 450 kids from 20 – 25 states, that our message will be clear, that our stories will be pertinent, The Scriptures will become personal, the songs will be enlightening, the outdoors will be fascinating, that our campers will be safe, that our staff will have vigor in the long days and short nights, that the horses and livestock will do well, that the Gospel will be revealed and that God will be glorified.

A Nice Visit From Ralph and Connie Seekins

We sure enjoyed the visit from our friends from Fairbanks, Alaska. Our time together last evening with Ralph and Connie Seekins was filled with stories and plenty of laughter. That continued this morning as we had breakfast and devotions together. We talked of hunting, Quarter Horses, camping ministry, kids and families and the opportunities afforded us in service to God. Ralph has served as the president of the American Quarter Horse Association and Connie's appreciation for horses has led to doing therapeutic riding programs along with their daughters near Fairbanks. They talked of other camps in Alaska that I knew of going back to my MIB days.

***

We have been blessed by other members of the Seekins family for many years. Larry (Ralph's brother) and April Seekins and their family have been lifelong friends to Robin. I have known them for over forty years. Kerri Seekins Crowe worked with us in the very beginning of RBR and Larry and April's granddaughter, Heather, was a team leader with in 2013.

What a wonderful blessing to be a part of God's family in Christ.

Resurection Sunday 2022

Knowing Christ is Above All

***

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

***

Not that I have already attained,or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Est. 1979

Wow... Is this really that long ago?

.

We had two camp sessions in 1980 which was our first year of camp at RBR.

.

27 campers total.

.

This is one of the groups that we "practiced" on. It is highly probably that all came out for the better.

.

To God be the Glory, Great Things He has Done.... and continues to do.

Project at Reinhold Lake

Project today... Resetting the posts for the dock at Reinhold Lake. And not just that... About 5 loads of very nice rock (river rock) that we spread on the west side. On the east side we will put a concrete pad to put the boat and pontoon in more easily. The decking will be added soon. We hope to haul some more of our gravel down soon to make for better shoreline for the kids to fish from as well. This is all taking place because the silent auction at the Annual Game Feed was such a success. So many good folks working together to make RBR a fun place for the kids. And yes the water level is down... But God can fill it up... and yes it is a good time to do these sort of projects.
