Phyllis Elaine Hubin, age 88, formerly of Rapid City now of Hudson, Ohio, departed this life to be with her SAVIOR and LORD, JESUS CHRIST, on December 1, 2024, after several years of illness. At the time of her death, she was the treasured wife of her husband, Ed (Edgar), mother of 4 children and their spouses: Scott (Mary) Hubin, of Kent, Ohio, Becky (Jay) Childs, of Woodstock, Illinois, Randall (Sheryl) Hubin, of Blaine, Minnesota, and Kent (Deeni) Hubin, of Franklin, Tennessee. She also was the grandmother of 14 grandchildren (8 married), and the great-grandmother of 27 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Doris, and her husband, Bill (William) Bonnell, of Woodstock, Illinois, and their families, and by her sister, Bonnie, and her husband, Ed (Edward) Crossman, of Rapid City, and their families. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Viola Christensen of Rapid City.
Phyllis was born October 26, 1936, in the Dell Rapids, SD, hospital, the daughter of Harvey and Viola Jorgenson Christensen. In March of 1939, she moved with her parents and baby sister, Doris (born November 22, 1938), from their home over their filling station business/home in Hartford, SD, to Rapid City, SD. Another sister, Bonnie (born November 25, 1940) soon joined the family in Rapid City. They lived in rental homes in several locations in the city, including on Rapid Street, Franklin Street, and South Street, before her parents built a home of their own at 501 St. Cloud Street.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Kirk Funeral Home, 1051 E. Minnesota Street, Rapid City. A public memorial service at Kirk Funeral Home will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 13, 2024, followed by a private family burial at Mountain View Cemetery, Rapid City.
A memorial has been established at Rainbow Bible Ranch, 14676 Lone Tree Road, Sturgis, SD 57785.
