Gertrude Crisp, 100, of Rapid City, SD, formerly Colman, SD, died Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the West Hills Village Healthcare Center, Rapid City.
Gertrude May Nagel was born on March 25, 1917 on a farm near Brookings, SD, the daughter of Ervin and Amy (Poller) Nagel. She grew up attending school in the Colman area and graduated from Colman High School. She went on to earn her teaching certificate at Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, SD and then taught school for nine years.
On December 12, 1943 she married Harold Crisp in Colman. The couple farmed near Dell Rapids. Harold died in 1998. Gertrude moved to Rapid City where she has lived for the past 20 years.
Gertrude had been a member of the Colman Methodist Church and the Methodist Church in Rapid City. She was a member of Methodist Women. She enjoyed playing cards, painting and playing pool. She also had played golf, enjoyed arranging flowers and gardening.
Her life left a legacy of faith in Jesus Christ - - - her reason for life and her hope in death.
Besides her husband Harold, Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and one sister.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Gayla (Richard) Meyer, Rapid City, Jerry (Sandy) Crisp, Sioux Falls, Marvin Anderson, St. Paul, MN and Mike (Kim) Anderson, Sortell, MN; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; special friend, Betty Meyer, Rapid City, as well as other relatives and friends.
