Vincent passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Vincent was born on January 23, 1933, on the family ranch southwest of Timber Lake. He was the fourth of six children of Herbert (HJ) and Esther (Alquist) Dahlgren.

Vince began first grade with his older sister, Florence, as his teacher, at Williamson school on the Moreau River. He also attended Sprick and Stoick grade schools. While attending Timber Lake High School, he often rode his horse or boarded in town. He graduated in 1951. He later attended auctioneer school in Sturgis.

Vince spent his life on the Dahlgren Ranch raising cattle and farming. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his horses. He and his family were honored with a Century Farm award in 2012.

Vince married Mavis Johnson on June 11, 1958 at Bethany Lutheran Church near Selby, SD. They lived their life on the Dahlgren Ranch, celebrating 57 years of marriage.

Vince enjoyed meeting and visiting with people. He looked forward to spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking them to rodeos and participating in other activities. Vince was always ready for a good card game of pitch and getting the best deal at an auction sale. He was interested in politics and served as a Dewey County Commissioner. He was a member of United Parish Church and Timber Lake Saddle Club.

In later years, he greatly enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with Mavis meeting new friends, enjoying the sunshine, exploring the southern states, and showing family the sights.

He is survived by his wife Mavis; six children - Karen (Dave) Holzer from Spearfish; Keith (Linda) Dahlgren from Timber Lake; Nyla (Loren) Moak from Selby; Corinne Hansen from Spearfish; Sharon (Shorty) Maher from Timber Lake; and Sandi Dahlgren from Germany; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters - Estelle Cook from Glad Valley and Esther Goldade from Timber Lake and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by granddaughter Talitha Holzer, his brother Herbert Dahlgren, sisters - Anna Smolik, and Florence Mitchell.
