The Roundup
As I am writing this, a crew of hard working gentlemen are working on remodeling the restroom facilities and preparing the for better use the additional Silver Sage bunkhouse. In the outline that you see on the opposite page you can read of the improvements that we have planned for two years and longed for many years. These improvements will be so very nice for the young people that attend in the future. We will also have some handicapped facilities that we did not have in the past.
We are certain that all will be appreciative of the new showers, the privacy that will be afforded, as well the bright clean atmosphere.
Even though financial contributions have been short in January, we have appreciated the generous help and assistance that has come our way this past month. The labor that has gone into the remodeling project is just one example of folks pitching in to help.
Here about a week ago, a semi pulled in to the place from eastern South Dakota loaded with hay of several different types for the horses of Rainbow Bible Ranch. This community effort of about eleven different families came as a concern due to the drought that has gripped the region. Several of the families have had children involved with RBR in the past. The trucking was done by one of the producers and the fuel bill was paid by the church there in town.
We have been blessed with a fairly mild winter, which means that the livestock do not require as much feed to maintain their body condition. So at the present time, the horses look very good and they have not consumed as much feed as projected on paper last fall. Here we are now at the beginning of February and Spring is in the forecast. An old saying states that winter is the best time to have a drought and we will count on the Lord to provide the much-needed moisture in the upcoming months.
I know I talk about our horses here at Rainbow quite often, but I am pretty impressed with how God uses these guys to further the work of the gospel. Not just any horse will work at Rainbow Bible Ranch. These are not just trail ride horses. They must have a sound mind with a temperament that is “biblical” and patience that would rival that of Job. Whenever anyone of limited knowledge starts to tear apart one of our camp horses; you can be sure that I will speak in their defense. Thank God for good horses.
