Elouise Ross Lintz, 96, passed away on Sept. 12, 2018, in the company of her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

She was born on Aug.18, 1922, in Searcy, Ark., to Elisha and Phoebe Ross. In 1923, her family moved to California, and she spent her childhood in the San Fernando Valley along with her brother, Kelley Lee and sisters, Mary Francis, Martha Nell, Lorraine and Patricia.

The year 1941 was a big year for Elouise. She graduated from Canoga Park High School, completed a six-month business course at Los Angeles Business College, and worked as a personal shopper for the Broadway Department Store in downtown Los Angeles. But above all else, she met the love of her life, Jack Lintz, in January and they were married later that year on Christmas Day, 1941.

They both went to work for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica until May, 1944, when Jack joined the United States Marines and Elouise prepared to welcome their first child, Linda Lee, who was born later that year. Three more children, John Ross, Thomas Leslie and James Arnold would join the family over the next few years.

Elouise, Jack and their young family moved to “the old Kimball place” on Highway 36 near Hermosa, S.D., in June, 1949. Eastern Custer County was home to Jack and became home to Elouise. They spent 59 years together in their home along the creek, and Elouise lived in the home they built together for the rest of her life.

She mastered nearly every aspect of rural living, and was an especially talented cook and baker. She had an exceptional singing voice, and directed the Congregational Church choir in Hermosa for many years. Most of all, best of all, she was warm, gracious, loving and always a lady.

Elouise leaves behind her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Linda Lintz, John (Michelle) Lintz, Thomas (Kelley) Lintz, Jim (Brenda) Lintz, Marnie (Doug) Herrmann, Tre’ Ventling, Jeffie Ventling, Will (Kate) Ventling, Jennah Lintz, Jordan Lintz, Ashley (Matt Mickley) Lintz, Deisha (Charles) Waterfield, Lauren Lintz, Camille Grace, Thomas Lintz, Boe (Robbie) Lintz, Brian (Kristi) Lintz, Kelly (Seth Moser) Herrmann, Kacey (Logan) Doyle, Jacob Woitzel, William and Jonathan Ventling, Annalee Ventling-Brown, Logan and Ava Ventling, James, Joseph and Elisabeth Waterfield, Echens Lintz, Trey Irving, Trent Lintz, Rylee and Jack Lintz. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine Hendrix, dear friends Jim and Sally Scherrer and countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Her loving husband Jack, granddaughter Annalee, brother Kelley and sisters Mary Francis, Martha Nell and Patricia passed before her and surely welcomed her to her heavenly home.
