November 20, 2020 - From Liana
I’m not very eloquent with my words but thought I’d share what RBR has been for me.
My early years of memorizing scripture which have stuck with me until this day at 38 they are some of my deepest truths.
Counselors praying with me for my dad to find Jesus- and 20 years later when that happened I got to see how God answers prayer.
The songs I learned here were some of the first I sang to my babies at night or now that they are older at bedtime if they are scared.
Counselors and campers writing letters in the off season I established a community where I didn’t otherwise feel accepted.
Sleeping at the peak taught me about finding God in the silence and appreciating creation.
Watching Reinhold’s gave me a desire for a godly family.
I had some years of not putting Jesus first but the foundation that was built here gave me something to stand on and strive for. I always knew I had a group of people encouraging me to put Jesus first. People that cared if I strayed. 30 years later some of those people still in my life and pointing me to Jesus.
When my kids ask me why I love it out here or to share camp stories (to this day it’s one of my favorite places to be) part of my story is always that I knew it was a place I could be loved and challenged. Chasing goats and riding horses is fun, but nothing compares to the other stuff!
